Beauty Created in an Eco-Conscious and Sustainable Way

Tropikalia creates and celebrates beauty. Inspired by the sun, beach, and ocean, the heart and soul of our work are incredibly close to the natural allure of Bali. In line with our closeness and love for beauty and Mother Earth, we always strive to maintain and improve eco-conscious and sustainable practices in all aspects of Tropikalia, from the production of our beachwear to the packaging we choose to use for our products.

Our brand has a strict zero-waste policy, and in our creative environment, that means some extra fun creating gorgeous little items such as headbands, underwear, and even scrunchies out of our leftover fabrics. Looking at all those dainty colorful things created out of what could have been considered as trash is simply fulfilling. Our zero-waste policy has also connected us with one of Bali’s wonderful NGOs known as the Bali Street Kids Project, where our donations of fabric offcuts are transformed into the cutest little dresses worn by lovely handcrafted fair-trade dolls produced by the ‘village moms’ of the organization.

Furthermore, Tropikalia’s collections of beach towels, baby hoodies, sarongs, kaftans, and beach bags all consist of handmade products. We have our very own team of talented local artisans who create the most amazing joyous prints using both traditional as well as modern techniques on natural fabrics. Clearly, the fact that our beachwear products are handmade, lowers our carbon footprint significantly. 

Additionally, as part of our eco-friendly commitment, all of the packagings that we use for our beachwear is made by AVANI from cassava starch and is therefore 100% biodegradable! Considering that plastic pollution is currently one of the most critical environmental issues in the world, these cassava-based eco-bags really offer an ideal alternative.

Aside from our eco-friendly values, we are also committed to ethical and sustainable fashion in other ways, such as women’s economic empowerment. In our case, 90% of our workforce are women. We take part in promoting gender equality in Indonesia through our participation in creating good working opportunities and fair working conditions for women in Bali.
